This pleasure-boat is believed to be the TSMV "British Queen", both from the position of her "Beach Pitch" leased from the Corporation's Pier & Foreshore Dept., and from her wheelhouse. In 1946 the only other local pleasure-boats with wheelhouses were the 109ft long "Southend Britannia"[Owners Myalls Ltd.], and the 75ft-long near-sister-ships "Britannia I" [Owners Myalls Ltd.], and "New Prince of Wales I" [Owners Brand & Wilson]- which all operated from the Jetties at the other end of this beach, nearer to the Pier.
