  • This is a glimpse of the elusive Gibson's Arm canal basin, which accesses this area via a tunnel from the Crescent Wharf to the north. It was constructed in 1912 and was destroyed when the Hall of Memory was built sometime before the second world war, so a very rare image indeed.

  • Birmingham Canal Navigations Newhall Branch. This led from the top of the Farmers' Bridge flight of locks to the original terminus of the canal at Newhall Street.

  • Mason's College. Poor old Josiah Mason had all of his major buildings demolished. Even his mausoleum in the grounds of his Orpanage in Erdington was razed to the ground and he and his wife Annie's bodies were cremated. Except for his name the most prominent thing to mark his passing is a bust of him on the Chester Road.
