This whole area of the Southern Railway Works was known as Kimberley. This shop in 1948 was the 'Wagon building and repairing shop'. The southerly end was the 'new' Saw Mill.

This area of the East Stour River was known as 'The Oaky'. The river here widened out like a basin and the nearby mature oak tree had a rope swing attached to one of its branches overhanging the river. It was deep enough here to swing out and jump in and swim in the water.
