We used to ride our bikes down a reddish earth hill next to the Allotments. The Hill next to the Liberal club we called the big hill the Swamp was at the foot of it, then in the centre of that side of the Summers was a round hill more like a mound with a depression in its zennith which was our Fort, after this came a sort raised oval track with wheel barrow traces still in evidence. Some of the earth that had been moved to cause these mounds & depressions were obviously used to build the railway embankment. |
