Miners Cottages - the houses on the other side of the road were not built until 1936 along with the rest of the Ashton Vale estate and South Liberty Lane.

The 'Magnet' greyhound racing track. Photo is credited as 1935, but the greyhound track was only in business for under six months, opening in June 1928 and closing the following October, so date may be earlier than 1935. Houses now occupy the site.

EPW041478 (dated 1933) also shows track in background. Did the 1928 creditors sale attract no bids? Not that there seems a lot to sell, grandstand apart. The OS 6-inch sheet Somerset VI.SW published 1932 shows the track and stand, as revised in 1930. The 1938 revision published 1944 shows housing.

kevtees: Obviously you wouldn't have known it, but it was actually me who wrote that letter to the Bristol Post!
