In the 1940's and 1950's (and maybe before) this was "Sands Hotel" owned or run by Mr Herbert who in later years turned it into a turkey farm. Then in the mid 50's he moved to a purpose built turkey farm in Jefferstone lane next to the RHDR Railway track. I stayed in the hotel in 1950 and 52. I spent a school journey trip on the camp site in 1955 ... thats when I met Mr Herbert again ........ in his new turkey farm.
