According to records I have the boilers were as thus- No.1 By Yates & Thom Date 1915. 8'6" x 30'0" 160 p.s.i Pillats forced draught furnaces Ferguson superheater- 8 units, 3 x 11/2 tubes per unit Danks chain grate stokers fitted with Bennis grates 1958 Grates 5'3" long x 3'2" wide. No.2 Ditto Date 1921 No.3 Ditto Date 1925 No.4 Ditto Date Not given No.5 By Ruston Proctor 9'0" x 30'0" Dished ends otherwise as No.1 Date 1923. No.6 Ditto Date 1923. Not shown on the photograph was a range of boilers on the other side of the chimney which were installed later. No.8 By Daniel Adamson 9'0" to 8'6" telescopic x 30'0" long Otherwise as No.1 Date 1933. Nos.10,11,12 & 13 By John Thompson Date 1936 Otherwise as No.8 (telescopic).Other fittings as No.1 Chimney- Brick 180"0" high 1922/23. 17'1" dia at base 14'0" dia at top. These records are as at October 1968. I don't know what happened to boilers 7 & 9. Maybe someone out there still knows! |

No.3 shaft. 21'6" dia at top. 23'6" dia at middle. 21'6" dia at bottom. Total depth 909 1/2 yards filled in to 836 yards. Depth to Parkgate 787 yards. |
