I once stayed here overnight in about 1970 when the bill for a night's bed and breakfast was around £1. The M6 was in the future, if you wanted to drive north there was only the A6. I managed to visit the Scout Green Signal Box but banking of steam trains had finished. It was however before the installation of the overhead electrification. |
