(approximate) location of The National School which was built in 1842 as an agricultural hall. Shorlty after it was built it became known as Union Hall (Union Street being the name of what is now called Fox Lane). It became known as Top School in the 1870s. The original buildings were demolished with just a front wall remaining. Three dwelling houses were built on the site in 2015 with the front wall retained.

Saint Andrews Church of England School. Built in 1837 as the National School, it is now "First Footsteps Private Day Nursery". It was also known as Bottom School.
