Kensington Needle Works - The firm was founded by Benjamin Tatham in 1824. The multi-storey extension is thought to have been erected around 1890, and was largely destroyed in successive fires of 15 October 1963 and 25 February 1980. The chimney was demolished on Saturday 3 April 1982.

Photo shows Little Hallam Lane running left to right in the bottom third, the council houses looking very new. The amount of unbuilt land is surprising - St John's Church stands more or less on its own in the middle right and there's no Cavendish School (demolished 2010) and much less housing in Larklands than today.
