Eureka We now know this is looking north west over the Canons Park area towards Stanmore Marsh.

Two possible areas,Stag Lane, Edgware where the Hummingbird was built and Lympne where the Light Aircraft Trials were held in 1923. It's likely to be an early flight, possibly its first; no reg markings and the wings appear to be only clear-doped.

Unlikely to be Lympne, which is situated between the North Downs and Romney Marsh. Absence of hills or seascape. At this height Ashford or Folkestone would have been visible.
