I agree 100% that you have located the Gaumont backlot site in Northolt. The treeline and tree pattern match exactly. Well spotted!

This field was developed as a prefab site immediately after World War II.

King of the Damned is a British prison film made in 1935. directed by Walter Forde and starring Conrad Veidt, Helen Vinson, Noah Beery and Cecil Ramage ….. convict 83 (Veidt) is a prisoner on an island penal colony, the harsh regime decides him to lead a revolt … unusually to allow the convicts to stay on the island and set up their own humane and inclusive society. The Internet Movie Database gives Shepherd’s Bush, London, UK as the filming location.

When the database says that it was filmed at 'Shepherd's Bush' it means that the inside shots were done at Gaumont's Lime Grove studios, this is the outdoor film set and I've attached a map of Shepherd's Bush Common as it was in the 1930s and it's changed very little since. I can't see anyway that this photo would fit in the space.

My location is based on the trees in EPW044923 and the description of "Convicts and Elephants being led from the station siding up a ramp on to Eastcote Lane". Also on the 1935 OS map there is what seems to be a road from Eastcote Lane to the top corner of the field where access seems to be on the picture above, Along with the correct field boundaries

The Gaumont backlot was located close to Eastcote Lane in Northolt. Presumably this is where the photo was taken. I believe it was quite extensive at around 70 acres.

Gaumont reputedly had a 'backlot' site in Northolt in the 1930s that was used by Hitchcock amongst others. Exact address I have been unable to locate.
