This section of Harlington High Street would be rerouted to the east to cross over the newly constructed M4 motorway and continue towards Hayes along the route of Bedwell Lane. The old abandoned route was retained as St Peter's Way and ended with a pedestrian subway under the M4 connecting at the north side with Shepiston Lane.

The Bricklayers Arms pub. At about this very time the name was changed to The Air Hostess in acknowledgement of the proximity of the new airport that would do much to ensure its ultimate demise. There is now a McDonald's 'restaurant' on the site.

Coach & Horses. One of the many fine old pubs that once existed along the Bath Road. This one was swept away when they built the Ariel Hotel.

Harlington Corner Greyhound Track, closed in 1962, and replaced by the Ariel Hotel. Harlington Corner Greyhound Track was constructed in the thirties directly above the Bath Road. During the second World War all of the land in the parish of Harlington to the South of Bath Road was requisitioned by the Air Ministry for London Airport. In 1959 plans for two large hotels 'The Skyways (later Sheraton)' and 'Ariel (later Holiday Inn)' were revealed to serve Heathrow. This resulted in the track having to be being demolished and the last meeting was on 22nd January 1962.
