Saturday morning roller skating sessions, in the early to mid 1950s are my only memories of this building. In retrospect, I am sure that it must have served other purposes at this time - perhaps dancing?

Was this before or after the billiards? I can't imagine billiards tables being moved out of the way and then replaced just for a kids' roller skating session. Hopefully other contributors will be able to add some clarification.

Further to my earlier comment, my brother remembers the Saturday roller skating sessions well and has reminded me that the building was called the Carlton Ballroom.
