In the far distance most of Fulford village can be seen in this image (with no A64) and the houses on Fordlands Road look brand new.

Mainly interested in West Riding areas, where our father comes from. Ossett/Dewsbury etc.

Am trying to find a definite link between the West Riding Brettoners & those around the Barnsley area.

kind regards,

Great view of what used to be next to Clifford's Tower, where now there is car park. Many other points of interest, some marked with pins.

City centre again. Interesting in that it shows the street Union Terrace when it was complete. Marked with pin.

No major changes to York's historic core, of course. We still have the Minster ... Have marked a couple of industrial buildings/sites since gone with pins.

This factory opened in 1926 (as did the Terry's factory - Bishopthorpe Road works).

It closed in 2007, and was demolished 2008-2009.

The North Riding Psychiatric Hospital was more recently known as Clifton Hospital. It closed in the 1990s, and the site has been redeveloped with housing and offices. Though the main hospital building was demolished, a few peripheral buildings remain, including the hospital's chapel.

This image was taken the year the factory opened, and seems to have captured it under construction. The famous Terry's Chocolate Orange was manufactured here.

The factory closed in 2005. The red brick buildings and landmark clock tower are being retained. Peripheral buildings were being cleared from the site in early 2012. See http://www.yorkstories.co.uk/news_and_views/index.php/2012/03/29/terrys-factory-site-29-march-2012/
