' Waterford North station, opened in 1864, by the Waterford & Limerick Railway, with a splendid Neo-Classical building and long platforms, constructed between the blasted rock face of Mt.Misery and the extended quay frontage, were added by 1906. The station layout changed little over the next half century, with platforms 1 and 2 serving links east to New Ross and Rosslare, whereas remaining platforms served passengers heading for Kilkenny, Dublin, Cork and Limerick.
