Former railway, now long distance path, Centurion Way. The path leaves the trackbed at the bridge just above this marker and heads for the road. The path runs to the South of the bridge.
Originally London Brighton and South Coast Railway.
On the former line between Chichester and Midhurst. It was opened on 11 July 1881. Goodwood Racecourse was an uphill walk from here- racegoers preferred to walk from Chichester.
Passenger services were withdrawn on 6 July 1935. Freight services remained until these were withdrawn on 28 August 1953 by British Railways.
Stations to the North (top) are Singleton, Cocking and Midhurst.
Stations to the South (bottom) are Lavant and Chichester. '
