' These buildings were originally Platers Sheds for the Newcastle Shipbuilding Co who started up in 1919 & went bankrupt 1921. In the late 1920s the sheds were bought by a company called Reay from Gateshead & it became the 'Reay Gear Works. Later it became Geo Angus Gears' & then RW Transmissions. It closed down in the 1970s. '
