Probably a field of wheat being harvested by a binder which is leaving a neat row of sheaves behind in, which 2 men are putting into shocks. This crop has " Lodged " because of poor weather conditions when growing, but also because wheat had a much longer straw in those days. This was well liked by thatchers.
