These sheds were part of the Newcastle Shipbuilding Company's shipyard which opened in 1919 & unfortunately went bust in 1921. The sheds & land stood empty for years & a lot was sold off cheaply after a failed Auction where no one bought it. The sheds were eventually bought privately by a Gateshead Company called Reay & they started off Gear & Gearbox manufacturing as the 'Reag Gear Works'. Later it was bought by Geo Angus & later again it became RW Transmissions. It closed down in the mid 70s & is now a Housing Estate called 'Tyne View Estate'. I worked at RWT as a Fitter from 1965 to 1971
