' Cabbage Marys. This cottage stood where the Boddington Arms / premier inn now stands. My mother passed this cottage on her way to and from the council school in Wycliffe avenue during the 1920's. She relates that the woman who lived there was known by the local children as 'Cabbage Mary'. '
