' Railway Line. To the left is Hyde and Manchester, to the right is Romiley and Marple. You can just see a junction turning downwards, which was built to Stockport Portwood, then extended to Stockport Tiviot Dale and Manchester Central. In 1980 motorway construction in Stockport closed this junction line and it is now comprised of two short spurs giving freight access to a waste depot and a concrete works. Freight trains run daily on the spurs. The main line from Manchester to Marple and beyond generally sees passenger trains hourly or better. '
