' This block of Halton Mansions (block including flat 68 where my grandfather and great grandfather had previously lived), plus a small adjoining section of the next block were heavily damaged on 17th Sept 1940 during the Blitz. The Halton Mansions Shelter was underneath nearby and 9 were killed in the explosion. This block must have been rebuilt shortly afterwards and appears newer than the other surrouding buildings. '
