' This was part of the Newcastle Shipbuilding Company & the sheds were Platers Sheds. They opened in 1919 & went bankrupt in 1921. The place stood empty until the late 1920s when the Reay Gear Works took over the sheds. Later it became George Angus Gears & later still RW Transmissions. It finally closed in the mid 1970s & now a housing estate stands on this land '
