WSC 16.9.1911 Northumberland County Council agrees contracts for secondary schools at Whitley Bay and Wallsend; Whitley Bay let to Joseph Newbold of North Shields. WSC 27.7.1912 Miss E. C. Highton appointed headmistress 27.3.1914; Mr H. B. Widdows headmaster 28.3.1914. WSC 4.4.1914 High School re-named Whitley and Monkseaton County Grammar School; new Education Act offers entrance by examination only. WSC 27.4.1945 '
