Northern end of the original Great Eastern branch triangular junction with their main line between Ilford and Seven Kings. Opened in 1903 as part of the Fairlop/Hainault loop.
Closed after the extension of the Central Line following WW2. This extension was delayed and during WW2 the tunnels already built under Eastern Avenue were used by the Plessy Company to produce aircraft components in a sheltered location.
The Plessy company rebuilt a fair part of the site either for war production or after the war - I worked there 1967-69 in one of their development laboratories and it was rather different to this photo.
