' The area then known as Morden Common - if I have clicked in the correct place. It was in the area between Garth Road (now Lower Morden) and Green Lane, and described as at the back of the Nelson in 1844. There is no longer a Morden Common, which was where Hobalds Farm appears to have been. Ditto Morden Common Brickfields. (It had open land as well, hence Common). It's now a mixture of a cemetery and one of those areas that isn't really anywhere: Worcester Park/ North Cheam/ Lower Morden. When the dreadful 1930s houses arrived, an estate in the Garth Road area was named Morden Common. This led to the end of Morden Common as a hamlet/ village/ place. A pity. '
