This is not a New Town - but is Boghall Council Housing Scheme at Bathgate in a partly developed state. The scheme was first considered in 1946. The Burgh boundary was extended by 1950 to accommodate it with the first houses completed in 1955. Development continued to the north and east of the area shown here, with further boundary extensions in later years. Eventually around 1200 houses were built. The image shows Pentland Ave. nos 1-62, Cowan Street, Boghall Drive, Philip Ave. 1-45 and 2-22, Anne Street, Charles Cres. 1-63 and 2-54 (before shop built), Charles Lane, Elizabeth Drive 2-40, 62-120, 1-7, 23 &25 with Hossack's shop and Boghall Primary School (opened Autumn term 1958) but before the Church and other shops were built, Marina Road 2-22 and 1-11 (in progress) and Margaret Avenue 1-23 and 2-22 in progress.
