' Trolleybus, leading 3 others on "Hertford Road" services out of Edmonton depot on Tramway Avenue. Four routes ran from Waltham Cross to different terminals in central London : 627 - Tottenham Court Road; 659 - Holborn Circus; 679 - Smithfield; and 649 - Liverpool Street Station. Services commenced on 16 October 1938, with at one time 75 scheduled trolleybuses passing Edmonton Town Hall per hour (during the peak) in each direction. The Last Trolleybus to run through here was on 18 July 1961 when the 649 gave way to diesel buses operating on route149. '
