This platform is on a railway siding that ran off the Midland mainline. It was built to service the aircraft production facilities in and around Hendon Aerodrome. It ran off the GNR mainline across Aerodrome Road and ran around the perimeter of the aerodrome, continuing on to aircraft works in the Edgware Road. The branch was probably disused at the time of the photograph and would eventually be removed altogether. '
