Broad face pub,in Abingdon is the only known pub in England with the face of a man on the sign, there was a pub in Reading with the same sign but its now closed down.
The Abingdon sign is meant to be the face of a drowned man? pulled from the River Thames close by and others say its the face of a hanged man? from the old County Gaol on other side of road. Which has since closed as a prison /Goal. '
