' Old railway tracks at bottom left. News to me. I was born the year this picture was taken and spent much of my childhood playing around those fields and walking in the cemetery (St Patrick's, New Stevenston). I didn't know there had been a railway running there and by 1960 that area was pretty overgrown and a 'bing' was forming, which stands to this day. A bing is where all the waste material from local development - this was part of Stewart & Lloyds steelworks - is deposited. Grass and trees eventually grow and it becomes a playground for wild kids.
