Linacre Road Railway Station closed in 1951 - For decades the railway line was still used for goods traffic. The line still exists as a single track branch but in a very poor state. Merseytravel were looking at this route for reinstatement to, in the main, serve the Santander banking centre(was Giro Centre) close to the former Ford Station, and as an alternative route via Bootle to the centre of Liverpool. '
