' Caldon Canal. This branch leaves the Trent & Mersey Canal at Etruria Top Lock and heads off the right hand side of the photograph, via Endon, Cheddleton and Consall, to reach Froghall Basin where there was a wharf to load stone quarried at Caldon Low. The stone was brought from the quarries (which were at a higher level) by a narrow gauge railway/inclined plane. '
