' Sevenoaks Volunteer Drill Hall. In 1897 W.J. Thompson gave a plot of land in Argyle Road for the erection of a Drill Hall in honour of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. An appeal for funds was held and the Hall opened the following year for the 1st Volunteer Battalion of the Royal West Kent Regiment who were billeted in Sevenoaks.
