' GWR Bath Road Locomotive Shed. Built on the site of the original Bristol and Exeter Railway shed between 1931 and 1934, the GWR taking advantage of the goverment's 1929 Railway development Scheme. The allocation of this depot was to serve Temple Meads station and the express passenger services which would include "The Bristolian", "The Merchant Venturer" etc. Tank locomotives were also allocated for use on the various local services. The allocation at Nationalisation was only 87 but the majority as expected were main line express tender locomotives. Bath Road was closed to steam in September 1960, but the site was redeveloped yet again to serve as a diesel depot, coded by BR 82A. '
