This is the Slag Heap straddling the Hebburn - Jarrow border. It was created with the molten slag that came from the Palmer's Blast Furnace's in Jarrow. It was tipped whilst still molten like lava from a Volcano. Photos of the area are on my www.oldtyneside.co.uk website '
