I agree with this, the Brecon and Merthyr rialway line is on the right of the dam wall and the line from Dowlais is visible coming up to meet it.

View looking north from above Morlais Castle Golf Club up the Taff Fechan valley towards Pontsticill Reservoir. On the right side of shot we see the two lines of the Brecon & Merthyr Railway converging towards their junction at Pontsticill Junction Station.
In 1961 we caught the morning train from Merthyr station to Pontsticill Junction where we changed onto the Newport to Brecon service via Torpantau to Brecon. A magical day.

Very strange to see the area around Pontsticill Reservoir without any conifers. This view on the ground is dominated by the distant view of Penyfan and Corn Ddu which is missing in this image.
