Dear Class31, Thanks for your help; This is a really impressive piece of identification. Having checked your observations I can add that there is a stone dyke on the left hand side of the image creating a boundary between Benawhirter and Pintassan. The lowermost field in the photo (Pintassan)has a distinctive right-angled corner. The wall of the uppermost field (Benawhirter) does not meet this corner at the apex, rather it is inset by some metres. This feature can be seen on Google aerial photography, modern OS mapping and on the 6-inch 1st Edition OS.

The revised record will appear here in due course.

Hi Brian

Thank you for your kind comments about this identification. Good luck with the remaining unlocated Glenapp photographs!

I suggest that this is a view looking East over Ballochlant with Benawhirter to the left and Leana Burn on the right. I am sure that this shot is adjacent to SPW051005 and the linear feature on the right of this photo (the track)is the same as the linear feature (the track)on the right of SPW051005. Everything fits.

The photo was taken from Grid NX 12072 79077. In the middle distance is Crailoch Burn.
