17, Sunnyside Road. I lived here in the 1950 and early 1960s. I remember the Daily Goods trains travelling on the adjacent railway from Paisley West Station to Potterhill and Glenfield Goods Stations. Coal for Fultons Factory was the main reason for the retention of the railway to Glenfield Goods. Potterhill became a distribution Depot for Cadbury.

Wash house and toilet block, demolished in later years and extensions added to the back to the properties providing each property with a kitchen and bath. It was then that the entrance to the main buildings were changed and the down stair properties were given a back door of their own and the upstairs properties had a large stair case. |

The big house, South Park House is no longer there, it was demolished some 30 years ago, and now there are modern flats here. Also, the park, Brodie Park has changed too. For a while there was a pitch and putt on it, and a bandstand, but all gone now, and just back to being a park. Nearby are the tennis courts where all of Paisley aspired to being Wimbledon Champions. |

Hi I've just joined and looking to find out more about where I grow up. I stayed in the workers houses on falside road for 22 years and knew most the neighbours who worked in the factory my dad included. Loved staying here but its changed abit now like most places. Their wasn't a day I wasn't in the Brodie park with our dogs made lots of friends their. The club house on the corner of falside road braids road used to be the works club house and they used to hold a christmas party for the staffs kids. It was horrible seeing place shut and bulldozers move in, regret the red brick main building being knocked down should of been kept it was listed. Would love to have a chat with you if you'd like to swap info on the area. |
