An interesting train with passenger rated vans and some short bogie coaches at the front and various wagons, mostly open, at the rear. However the first vehicle is also an open wagon which one has to assume is 'fitted' or through piped (a wagon fitted with continuous brake or at least a brake pipe) otherwise the rest of the train will have no brakes. The old private owner coal wagons and at least one van in grey to the back of the train suggest the guard will have to be controlling these loose wagons, which indeed we see he is doing from the vantage point of the rear veranda of the brake van.
