When the bridge replaced the level crossing in Cleveland Street, tram lines were laid anticipating a route through there. No such line was built and they were removed unused.

WW1 connection between the Hull & Barnsley and the North Eastern railway lines. Disconnected after the war but still used from the high level line end.

This formation is shown on the 1910-11 OS 1:2500 map, without track and marked as Old Railway. But it also appears on 1891 1:500 and 1893 1:2500 maps exactly as here, rail connected at the H&B end but not with the NE. Must be more to the story ?
