This is the A40 heading out westwards to Denham, Gerrards Cross, Wycombe, Oxford etc. Re-numbered to A4020 after the Western Avenue was linked up to the M40 and took over the A40 designation.

Trams formed a vital type of transport out as far as Uxbridge, until they were replaced by trolley buses in 1936. Here is one heading for the terminus towards the western edge of town.

I think you will find that this is part of the Grand Union Canal and not railway.

Yes, but it was just simply 'Uxbridge' until 1957, when 'Vine Street' was added.
