This long building suggests a wire or rope walk. It was common for railways in the ninetieth and the first half of the twentieth century to make all the materials they require from base stock. Did the South East make its own multi-strand signal wire? |

A the time of the picture this was a connection to industries between Charlton and North Greenwich (home of the the Dome) including gas works, coal depots, the LCC tram repair works and a glass works. Still open for aggregate traffic but with many less sidings at the out of picture end. |
