The Rayon Manufacturing Company was formed early in 1926 for manufacturing artificial silk in an existing factory in Ermyn Way, Ashtead. After the firm closed in 1938 the works was occupied by Goblin for manufacturing vacuum cleaners and other appliances.

Was it a production plant or a yarn processing plant? and what was the 'Artificial Silk'? Acetate or Viscose? What was the company?

I have now found that the company was The Bravisco Company and because of the troubles in bringing in raw materials and the disposal of trade waste causing issues with the locals, the company did not last long at this site.

The product was viscose which did have a lot of nasty effluents to be disposed off.
