this is a view of lifton station and milk factory (probably ambrosia)looking from the west. the factory has now spread over the railway station and line (closed 1962 to passenger traffic)and the village has been bypassed by the new A30. the flooded quarry if of course still there.

Well not on the England/Wales border as I thought earlier but in fact close to the Devon/Cornwall boundary. The image is of the area around Lifton Station on the Great Western Railway branch line from Plymouth to Launceston. Google image shows the large lake in the picture and everything else fits into place. The main A30 road runs through the picture but the village has been by-passed in recent years. The Ambrosia factory is in Lifton and the present dairy is out of shot to the right.

Dear Class31,

The original Aerofilms Ltd Register entry fo this image says "Callington" so it's great now to have the correct location. Thanks to your help we can update the catalogue. The revised record will appear here in due course.

Bags of interest in this image. There is a well engineered single track railway to the right of the image. There appears to be a flooded quarry and a large chapel. Could this be on the England/Wales border country?
