  • Ashbury Works, beyond the Crossley site, closed in 1925 and the buildings were later demolished. The premises were redeveloped as Ardwick East Goods Depot by the London & North Eastern Railway. In 2012 the environmental company SLR Consulting has carried out an archaeological dig and located the works furnaces - the company also built bridges. Ashbury built rolling stock, much of it wooden-bodied, for the independent railways before the 1923 Grouping. Some export work was undertaken too. After 1925 production moved to Birmingham
