What is this building? I can only assume it is connected with the Hutments, and if so must have been some sort of sewage/sanitary processing. It lies downhill from the camp and just up from the River Irk. I have walked the path (2014) and can see no present trace, but cultivation furrows can be seen nearer to the River, presumably from the Waterside settlement.

The buildings shown were built by the Manchester regiment for WW1 training, and used for slum relief housing in the 1920s & 30s. The White Heather Camp was behind these huts. Huts later used by the RAF as part of their occupation of the park for Aircrew Training in WW2.

Site later used by Manchester Corporation for prefabs for post WW2 housing, along with another site off Bury Old Rd.

These are the "Hutments", an Army Training Camp used in the first world war. The White Heather Camp was located behind these huts.
