Long and wide enough to be a canal, but it doesn't seem to go anywhere! If just natural pond, can't see anywhere it drains to.

Don't think this waterlogged field (from rain). See lower in picture - they appear to be gathering hay (or similar dry crop).

Tarboat You deserve a medal for identifying this one. Everything looks to fit with the location you have given. I think that this was one of the first batch of photos released which, if I'm right, means we have been looking for almost two years. Once again very well done!

Thanks tarboat, that's great. You may be interested to know that the original Aerofilms Ltd Register entry for this reads "Laindon". We’ll update the catalogue and post the new details here in due course.

Although this is a different location, there are some similarities to the Bowfields and Tetton Saltworks, Middlewich, 1926, on EPW016339. One could surmise this is not too far away?

I thought that this might be a photo of a process linked with the Cheshire salt industry. I have scoured most of the railway lines of Cheshire and north Shropshire all to no avail.

Good luck everyone.

Is the machine by the white building pumping up saline solution into the reservoir, where after settling the water is drained via the dark soil (clay?) into the small pond? There seems to be an embankment/dam just this side of the reservoir. What are the two identical buildings set in the field on the RH side?
