My father, Bernard Cyril DUFFIELD and his family lived at number 39 Payton Road, he was born in 1910. He had an older brother William John & a sister, Winnie. His parents, my grandparents were Willy John & Alice DUFFIELD.

My father wrote a detailed account of his childhood in Payton Road and describes most of his neighbours who lived there. It is a really fascinating window on life around the time of the First World War.

A copy of these 'Memoirs" is lodged at the Birmingham Archives and at the Soho Road Library.
